Professor Timo Sarpaneva's grandfather was a blacksmith. Being around fire and molten metal in his childhood inspired the designer to recreate a popular version of the ancient cast-iron pot. It is a basic object for the home that you can lift from the stove straight to the table. It's distinguishing innovative feature is the detachable wooden handle you use to open the lid and lift the pot. The excellent qualities of the enamelled cast-iron pot work equally well on the stove, in the oven and when serving.
