Blue Line Dinner Bowl

The prize-winning Blue Line service is a modern classic from Royal Copenhagen and a source of inspiration for a whole generation of designers. It was created in 1965 by Grethe Meyer, one of the principal exponents of well-styled and functional Scandinavian design. A fine, dark blue line on the edge of the light grey faience gives the Blue Line service its name. Grethe Meyer pays great attention to function in her designs. Dining habits, lifestyle and interior design all influence the final result. She knows that the kitchen is the central focus point in the everyday life of many busy people. She realizes that not everyone has large dining rooms with lots of storage space. That is why all the pieces are stackable and why many have a variety of functions. Its simplicity seems free and easy, but was arrived at only after thorough thought, research and experiment. Perfection through precision. In 1965 the service was awarded the Danish Honour Prize for industrial design, the ID-Prize.
